IS COUTURE STILL TRENDY, WHILE THE FASHION INDUSTRY IS TRYING TO GO GREEN? 🌿

The past two years of digital shows almost made us forget the ecological issues involving a fashion show. Yes, fashion shows aren’t known for their sustainable footprint, but stakeholders are trying to revive the sustainability trend!

Zoom on initiatives that will make the fashion industry greener:

✅ Following Marine Serre, a new generation of designers creating new clothes out of second-hand fabrics (or at least sustainably-sourced fabrics) is rising. It is not a coincidence that LVMH often celebrates fashion’s sustainability problem-solving young designers.

✅ No more fur! As we already talked about in our January 6th post.

✅ Since 2020, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has stopped using single-use plastics for fashion shows, backstage, and requires reusable sets.

✅ Hermès, CHANEL, and most other luxury brands that present a fashion or a couture show signed the “Fashion Pact,” initiated by François-Henri Pinault, CEO of the luxury group Kering, which is a voluntary pledge for companies to reduce their carbon footprint.

As couture is a symbol of ‘French Art de Vivre,’ France must lead by example and prove that luxury is compliant with sustainability.
